Caminha, Viana do Castelo and Ancora to the south and Valenca and Melgaco to the north are delightful places to visit and walk around.
Vila Nova de Cerveira is an old interesting village with well preserved maedieval architecture and artistic tradition. The village has many examples of modern art in its squares and gardens.
A recently constructed bridge crosses the river from the village giving easy access to La Guardia (which describes itself as the lobster capital of Spain), Bayona (a sophisticated sailing town), and Vigo (a bustling port visited by cruise ships).
Approximately 129 kilometers away is the famous pilgrimage center of Santiago de Compostela.
“Casa do Loivo” is near several good spots for surfing in the north of Portugal and Spain, most of all beachbreaks and a few pointbreaks. The best known are Cabedelo, in Viana do Castelo, with its longs rights and Moledo for its lefthanders. Also very famous and with constant swells, even during summer, are “Praia do Bico” and “Forte do Cao”, near Vila Praia de Ancora.
For those interested, the owner may arrange learning and developing programs for surfing, supervised by experienced teachers. All the equipment is supplied.
There are also organized surftrips, kayaking, mountain biking, trekking and rock climbing.
