A supplement is usually charged locally for additional services such as
air conditioning, winter heating, pool heating, additional maid service,
laundry (clothes)s etc.
Beach/pool towels are not
included so bring your own.
Is there anything
else to pay?
||Yes, a breakage deposit
which is normally UKú300 or €500 per villa is also required
with the final payment.
If there are breakages, the
cost of replacement will be retained by the owner from this deposit.
To allow time for the value
of any breakages to be determined, this deposit is repaid during the month
following the date of departure.
Can you arrange extra
||Normally no, but very occasionally
we can arrange ‘foldaway’ beds for children.
How do I calculate

on a weekly basis, refer to the date bands & grids at the foot of each

Who are you?
Houses of Portugal promotes all areas excluding The Algarve.
For Algarve properties, the
contract for villa rental is with the operator for whom we advertise the
villa. The terms and conditions of the operator apply to the contract.
Do you know the villa?
||Yes, all properties have
been visited by us or our representative. They are not accepted on
our site unless they meet with our standards for quality, location and
'Health and Safety'.
Is there building
||This can start on the next
property the day before you arrive without the owner being advised and
we cannot be held liable. However, we will make very effort to minimise
If any works in the area
are known about which affect enjoyment of the property, we include details
on the site as soon as we are advised.
Particularly in the Algarve,
there is a lot of construction and normal inconvenience has to be accepted.
Do you remove properties
from your site?
||Unlike most other listings
of holiday accommodation, we do not charge for inclusion on the site.
This enables us to remove a property at any time. Houses have been removed
for the following reasons :
- The owner does not carry
out our recommendations relating to the gas supply
- The owner does not have
/ produce a gas safety certificate
- Storm damage reducing
the facilities of the house
- Guests being greeted by
a dog which was unacceptably large
Do we need Visas?
||Usually yes, if you reside
outside the European Union. Apply to your local Consulate and allow
plenty of time for the application to be processed.
Do we need Passport/ID
||Yes, and please ensure your
passport covers the date of travel.
Can we take pets?
||No, the owners do not accept
How far is the beach
from the villa?
||Check the description, we
usually list distances to beach, restaurant, shops and airport.
Is the villa secluded?
||Check the villa description
– if you can ‘skinny dip’ we mention it.
Are flights / car
hire included in the price?
||No, the price is for villa
rental only. We promote the accommodation and do not arrange air
travel or car hire. Please make your own arrangements.
Which is the nearest
||Faro for Algarve - Porto
(Oporto) for Northern Portugal - Lisbon for Lisbon and other areas.
Do I need to hire
||For some villas it is essential,
for most it adds considerably to the enjoyment of the holiday. Check with
us if not hiring a car.
