Casa Marreco Overview

Casa Marreco is painted in soft ochre and inside there are hand made terra cotta tile floors, stucco ceilings and rooms decorated in soft tones. It is a comfortable house with simple and practical furnishings.

Accommodation

|
There are four bedrooms. The master bedroom, on the ground floor, has twin beds pushed together to make a large double and an en suite bathroom with a shower over a free standing cast iron bath.
There is also a twin bedroom with en suite bathroom, that has a bath with shower attachment.
Through this twin bedroom is a 'summer kitchen' with a sink and food preparation area, perfect for use as a support room for the barbecue and patio outside.
On the first floor there is a double and a twin bedroom that share the same bathroom that has a free standing cast iron bath and a separate walk-in shower.
Both bedrooms on the first floor have French windows that open out onto an Arab style terrace.
A large combined sitting / dining room has a stone fireplace and enjoys panoramic views of the valley. It also includes satellite television and a video.
The kitchen is fully equipped with 5 ring hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, toaster and juicer.
A separate utility room has a washing machine.

Outside

At the rear of the villa is an enclosed, flat garden, mostly laid to lawn with a paved patio area and barbecue.
Steps lead down from the lawn to the large swimming pool (10 metres by 5 metres, depth from 0.5 to 2 meters) with excellent views.

Location

|
Gradil, the local village, offers simple shopping and also some good restaurants within walking distance from the estate. Larger shops can be found in Mafra which is 15 kilometres away.
The long sandy beaches of the west coast of Portugal are 25 kilometres away with Ericeira, famous for its seafood and fishing restaurants, being the closest to Casa Marreco.
The house is well positioned being close to many interesting places to visit within an hour drive.
These include Lisbon, the religious shrine at Fatima, the convent of Alcobaca, the monastery of Batalha, the medieval town of Obidos, the town of Sintra with its palaces. In addition there are local markets, the Golega horse fair and other individual sites of beauty and historic interest.
The house does have heating using a metered gas supply. The payment for gas is made locally to the owner.
At Quinta de Santana there are also two bedroom and three bedroom cottages.
