Casa do Castanheiro and the nearby cottage are set on a 4000 square metres well maintained garden. The extensive grounds feature many quiet areas in which you are invited to relax or read quietly to the sound of nature. The estate is planted with, olive, orange, lemon and sweet chestnut trees and a rose garden.

Accommodation

On the lower floor, there is a dining/living room with a comfortable seating area around an open fireplace. The dining table seats up to 12 persons.
Two double french doors open onto two terraces. One is covered with a wooden roof on granite pillars ideally for dining and sitting outside in the evening, while enjoying the uninterrupted view over the landscape and the river Minho valley.
The country style kitchen is fully equipped with 4 hobs, electric oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, kettle and toaster.
There is a separate laundry room with washing machine and ironing facilities.
The bedrooms are located on the upper floor. One double master and one twin bedroom have both ensuite bathrooms and one double bedroom has a separate bathroom. The master bedroom has a balcony with the same beautiful views as the living/dining room.
The house has central heating.

The terrace has garden furniture and a table ideal for outdoor meals.
During the summer period, there is also a barbecue area. From the garden there are uninterrupted views over Caminha, the estuary of the Rivers Minho and Coura, the Portuguese mountains in the East and Spain in the North.
In front of the kitchen there is another terrace with barbecue facilities as well as garden furniture with table, seating up to 6 persons and sun shade umbrella.
The swimming pool is set on a slightly higher garden level facing the cottage. The pool is to be shared with guests staying at the cottage. The size of the pool is 9 by 4.5 metres and the
depth is from 90 cm. to 2.20 m. There are sun loungers and sunshade umbrellas.
Guests are free to share the gardens which provide shady places to seat and relax.

Casa do Castanheiro is ideally situated for exploring the Minho region, the Peneda-Geres National Park, the walled town of Valenca and visit Vigo, Baiona and Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Also the Portuguese baroque city of Braga, Guimaraes and Porto with the Portwine cellars. Barcelos helds every Thursday market said to be one of the largest in Europe.
Casa do Castanheiro is situated within walking distance from the ancient fortress town
of Caminha which is almost surrounded by water. Proudly situated opposite
Spain at the mouth of the enchanting River Minho, this town has been inhabited
since Celtic and Roman times.
The old sailing city of Viana do Castelo which is well worth visiting is about 30 kilometres away. Golf can be played at the Ponte de Lima
course which is approximately 40 kilometres away.
