Casa Roma Orbecem is a delightful 19th Century farm house, with annexe, which has been lovingly restored to provide comfortable, spacious accommodation, whilst retaining the atmosphere and character of a bygone age.
The house is idyllically located on a hillside in the Ancora Valley on the edge of the charming, rural village of Orbacem. From its very private position, Casa Roma has magnificent views across vine girded fields to wooded hills and mountains in the distance.
There are many beautiful walks from the house and the river Ancora, with its clean clear water, is a short stroll across the fields where there are rock pools suitable for swimming.
The house is approximately 8 kilometers from the coast and there are a number of excellent beaches very close including, at the small coastal fishing town of Vila Praia de Ancora. It has a long, sandy crescent shaped bay and numerous restaurants, many specialising in locally caught fish.
There are 3 excellent golf courses within easy driving distance, there is canoeing and horse riding close by and the local Afife beach is a surfer’s paradise.
The wild, rugged Peneda-Geres National Park which can be explored on foot, horseback or by car, is an hours drive away.
Further afield, there are many interesting places to visit including the historic towns of Ponte de Lima and Viana do Castelo, Caminha, the fortified border town of Valenca, Braga, Guimaraes and of course, Oporto, the centre of the port wine industry.
Galicia, in neighbouring Spain, is a short car ferry ride away and is 30 minutes drive from the house. Another very pleasant trip is to Bayona, also in Spain.
